Traditional Chinese wedding

China is a large country with 56 nationalities. China also is an old country with 5000 years old. So well, the Chinese wedding ceremony is usually very complicated and entertaining.

All in all there are 6 necessary steps that involved in a Chinese wedding. They are match-making, engagement, betrothal presents, meeting the bride, three bows, and drinking wedding wine. You know in modern times everybody has freedom to choose their spouse or partner. So in modern china along the development of the society more and more young people who are planning to get marry do not need the match-making and engagement. Because they may have lost into love many years or more. So when 2 young people decide to get marry, they will ask for their parents whether they agree. Then when a new couple is engaged, what followed is a choice of the date of their marriage. Some people especially those in the countryside will ask a fortune-teller for a lucky date, usually a even number, because Chinese people want their wedding have“double happiness”. Then the couple will have a very extravagant feast. Every the couples friends will attend the feast and bless them. In the wedding the couple will do 3 bows that include bowing the god, bowing their parents and bowing their partner. After 3 bows they will drink wedlock wine. Chinese people believe that once 2 young people drink wedlock wine they cannot break because the god will bless them. Then at the end of the wedding party, friends and relatives will drink a toast to the bride and bridegroom, wish them a long life together.
