You can read novels, the newspaper, and work as mandarin reading materials.

Choose those story that isn't too complicated, then you get a chance to enhance your reading speed and smoothness level. You can learn a lot of new expression from them.

first step:try to read page after page without stopping. Just guess the meaning of the words that you don’t really know , and you can underline them .

second step:after reading ,you can check from the dictionary,and note those really “new” words for you .

last step , read the reading materials again to review the new words .

Method-2

I recommend that you can just play some famous and traditional computer games in Chinese, such as THE CHINESE LOVE STORY(Chinese name is: 仙剑奇侠传).

Method-3

reading children's books and watch those television program for children, try the Chinese online streaming video site from CCTV. You can see the children's section here. Most videos have sub titles. or some children's DVDs with Chinese subtitles.
